Before we start a new project with a client one of the first questions we ask them is, “Who’s your audience?” Who will view this video or use this media?
The answers to these questions lead to the way we approach the project. We like to know as much about our audience as possible. How do they communicate? What type of words do they use to describe their business? What’s important to them? Once we know who the audience is and their preferences we can begin to script a message that they will relate to and understand.
The way we shoot and edit the project also reflects the audience’s preferences. What style interests them? What keeps them engaged? We use these answers to determine our approach to shooting and the techniques we use in the edit.
